Add Text to Image

Put words on any photo: drag text where you want it, choose fonts and colors, add an outline, shadow or background box, and download the result at the picture’s full size. Your image never leaves your browser.

How to add text to an image

  1. Choose a picture. Drop, paste or pick a PNG, JPEG or WebP file, or start from the sample photo or a blank canvas.
  2. Add text. Type your words, then pick a font, size and color. Add as many text layers as you like.
  3. Place it. Drag the text on the preview, or use the sliders. Click a layer’s text to select it; the arrow keys nudge it when the preview is focused.
  4. Download. Export a PNG, JPG or WebP at the picture’s full resolution, with no watermark.

What to know

  • Everything runs in your browser. The picture and text are never uploaded.
  • Exports use the image’s own size (images above 5000 pixels on the long side are scaled down first). The preview on screen is smaller, but the file is full size.
  • Fonts shown with a name such as Anton or Lobster are bundled with the site, so they look the same on every device. System fonts like Arial or Georgia depend on what your device has.
  • Text is flattened into the picture. This tool doesn’t save an editable project file.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add more than one piece of text?

Yes. Use Add text for each new layer. Every layer has its own font, color, outline, shadow and position, and you can move layers forward or back.

How do I make text readable on a busy photo?

Add an outline in a contrasting color, a soft drop shadow, or a semi-transparent background box behind the text.

Does it reduce my image quality?

PNG keeps every pixel. JPG and WebP are compressed at high quality. The export is the same size as your original picture.

Is it free? Is there a watermark?

It’s free, needs no account and adds no watermark.
